World famous academician V.N.Bekhterev founded our academy in 1907. The Academy has 56 departments. The teaching staff consists of 600 people , among them one is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, one is a honored Scientist, two are Academicians and four are corresponding member of the Russian Academy of  Natural Sciences ,three are State prize winners. Saint Petersburg State Medical Academy had a glorious past and no less present and future. The main clinical basis of the academy is {Peter the great Hospital} of 2000 beds. Its whole complete of clinical and surgical base have near about 4000 beds which consists of more than 30 hospitals. 

The academy is a leading methodical centre in the field of medicine education in Russia. The academy have 60 departments. Teaching staff consists of near about 700 people. Among them there are so many academician and honored scientists. The academy carried out Research Centre in various fields. It has great experience in training of foreign students. More than 4000 student study at the academy including 1000 foreign students from 50 countries among them 400 students are from India alone.

The academy is coordinating with similar institutions in Sweden, U.S.A., Germany, Finland, France on various projects.

The academy degree is recognized in W.H.O. , M.C.I. (for screening test), U.S.A., France, Sweden.
