TVER region is the heart of Russia. This land gave the whole world great writers and poets, artists and architects, businessmen and scientists. In the 15th century Tver merchant AFANASY NIKITIN sailed to India, 30 years before the famous Vasco de Gama. Tver city has Long history and was founded in 1246. It has advantageous geographical position, rich nature, developed industry, intellectual, scientific and cultural potential.
Tver region is the largest of the 11 regions of the central Russia. Its territory is 84100 square kms. It includes 36 administrative districts, 23 towns & 8941 small villages. Population of Tver region is 1.6 million people.
Tver is advantageously situated in between Capital-Moscow (150 Km. From Tver) and Metropolitan city- St. Petersburg ( 400 kms. from Tver) Tver links the most economically developed regions of the country.
Climate of Tver is Temperate continental with cool summer and mild winter. Average temperature in summer is +30 and in winters is -10 degree centigrade. There are about 10000 institutions providing general education. 59 technical schools prepareing workers of different specialities.

There are many institutions of higher education in Tver :- TVER STATE MEDICAL ACADEMY, Agricultural University, Tver State University, Technical University and branch offices of some Moscow and St. Petersburg education '' institutions. For Russian military forces there is Air Defense University, Tver Suvorovite Military School, Institute of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affaris. MEDICAL FACULTY

ENGLISH MEDIUM This Medical faculty is the biggest structural and functional sub-division of the TSMA Foreign scientists and prof. from USA, UK, Germany, Canada, Italy, India and other countries are invited to read lectures at the TSMA. Teachers from foreign countries come to give practical training to the students so that they can easily work in India, UK, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, USA etc. The students who have chosen English medium do not have to study the Russian Language. They will be admitted directly ito the first course where medical subjects are tought in english. The duration of course is 5.8 years.

RUSSIAN MEDIUM The program is the same as that of English , medium, the only difference being that the academic procedures are in Russian. After 8 months Russian language course, the students will be admitted in the first course. Although coaching is given in Russian, they will be given a chance to sit in English, medium lectures and special training for USMLE screening test. Total duration is 6.6 years.

PHARMACY FACULTY

TSMA has a strong pharmaceutical faculty. The degree B-Pharma and M-Pharma will be awarded to the foreign students.

DENTAL FACULTY - BDS, MDS

The Dental faculty of TVER State Medical Academy has become one of the leading faculty in Russia for a period of more than 50 years of its existence. It has all facilities to produce highly qualified dentists. More than 1000 foreign students have been taught here. The BDS degree from TSMA is recognized by Dental Council of India. In sept. 2003 Dr. Bali President of DCI visited the TSMA. Soon some specialities of MDS will get recognisation by DCI.

FACULTY OF FOREIGN STUDENTS

This faculty is for training of Russian language to foreign students studying is Russian medium, The students of English medium will also be given a chance to learn the Russian language during their degree program as an international language and to communicate with Russian patient in the senior courses.

FACULTY OF PG STUDIES

TSMA provides post graduate training programme in a vast variety of different specialities in medicine & dentisitry. Fee is in between 2700-3500 US$/- yr depending upon choosen speciality .

SUBJECTS FOR POSTGRADUATES

DENTAL FACULTY is recognised by DCI. Specialities for MDS : Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Pedodontics, Periodontics Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine, Prostho dontics, Inplantology, Operative Dental Surgery(ODS )

MEDICINE FACULTY : Obstetrics and Gynecology, Opthalmology, Pediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology, Anesthesiology and Reanimatology, Infectious and tropical diseases, Cardiology, Immunology and Allergology, Radiology and Rentgenology Physiotherapy, General Surgery, Oncology, Urology, Traumatology and orthopedics, Phtysiopulmonology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Dermatovenerology, Neurology & Neuro surgery, Gastroenterology, Psychiatry & Narcology.

Student has to pay $ 200 hostel charges per annum along with the tuition fee of the chosen course as mentioned above. Fee has to be paid in US Dollars before 15th October of each academic year. NEW STUDENTS has to pay the fee in full with in 3 days after arriving in TVER

DURATION OF STUDY

• Undergraduate Medical Course in Eng. Med. is 5.8 yrs Degree MD PHYSICIAN
• Undergraduate Medical Course in Russian Medium is 6.6 years
  (Degree MD (PHYSICIAN))( 5.8 years + 8 months Language course)
• Postgraduate Medical Course is 2 years (Degree MD, MS, MDS, PGT)
• Postgraduate Medical Course is 3 years (Degree PhD)
• Language course for post graduate course is 3 months
• Language course for Russian medium 8 to 10 months

After completing Russian language course, students can continue their study in 1st course Russian medium or in 1st course English medium.
As per the rules of Medical Council of India minimum Qualification for student getting admission in MD PHYSICIAN course is 10+2 pass with 50% marks in PCB.

LIBRARY

Over 440000 books written by Russian and foreign authors are available here. The library is connected to the World Med Line system where all information concerning the latest findings in Medical field are updated. For English Medium students, special library of English Medical Books by Indian & foreign authors is maintained by the Katman Group Education. Although all the books are available free of cost in the library, but students of English Medium are requested to carry their own books.

HOSTELS

There are 4 hostels which can accommodate 1840 students. Two of the hostels are flat type i.e. With attached bathroom, toilet and kitchen. The hostels are centrally heated (air-conditioned). Hostels are fully furnished. The basic system is two students in one room. Separate arrangements for boys and girls. Students can get Indian food at the canteen of the hostel and foreign TV channels (Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil etc.) are also available. All the hostels are well guarded with police security. Bed Linen is changed once in a week and hostel is cleaned once everyday. Each hostel has got internet cafe having web cam, net telephone & high speed internet connection which enables the students in communicating with their relatives & help in studies and recreation. Hostels also have got INDIAN MESS providing all Indian food prepared by Indian chefs on very economical charges.

SPORTS & CULTURE

TSMA in association with KGE organises cultural programs every year in which students from various countries of the world take part. The Indian student association celebrates Diwali, Holi, Baisakhi etc. Indian festivals every year & there is a holiday on that day in the academy. In sports there are International tournaments of Cricket, Football, Basketball, Badminton etc. At present in the cricket club there are 16 Indian Teams j along with a team from Pakistan, Bangladesh, & Sri Lanka . Each year during the holidays Academy & Katman Group Education organises educational cum recreational tours to neighbouring cities & European countries. Indian Ambassador and other official of the Embassy of India in Russia (Moscow) frequently visit TSMA and meet Indian students to know their needs & solve their problems.
